More, Less, or the Same

Aligned to K.CC.C.6 — Common Core State Standards for Mathematics.

What this lesson teaches

We can look at two groups and tell if one has more, one has less, or they have the same amount.

Example 1

One plate has 4 cookies, the other has 2. The plate with 4 has more cookies than the plate with 2.

Example 2

Line up 3 forks and 3 cups, one cup next to each fork. Nothing is left over, so the groups are the same.

Example 3

You have 5 stickers and your friend has 8. Yours is the smaller group, so you have less.

Podemos mirar dos grupos y decir si uno tiene más, uno tiene menos, o tienen la misma cantidad.

Ejemplo 1: Un plato tiene 4 galletas y el otro tiene 2. El plato con 4 tiene más galletas que el de 2.

Ejemplo 2: Pon en fila 3 tenedores y 3 vasos, un vaso junto a cada tenedor. No sobra nada, así que los grupos son iguales.

Ejemplo 3: Tú tienes 5 calcomanías y tu amigo tiene 8. El tuyo es el grupo más pequeño, así que tú tienes menos.
