These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the YourHomeschool family of websites, applications, and services — including yourhomeschool.net, homeskooltutor.com, homeworktutors.ai, our mobile apps, and any other website, app, or program we operate that links to these Terms (together, the "Service"), provided by YourHomeschool ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
YourHomeschool provides an online, standards-aligned AI tutor, lesson explainer videos, printable study guides and workbooks, quizzes, and related educational features for grades K through 12, in English and Spanish. YourHomeschool is a learning aid and supplement. It is not a substitute for school, certified instruction, special-education services, or professional advice, and it does not award grades, credits, or diplomas.
2. Eligibility and Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and a parent, legal guardian, or other authorized adult to create an account. Students use the Service under your supervision. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for keeping your login credentials secure, and for all activity under your account, including use by the children you supervise. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. We may suspend or terminate accounts created with false information.
3. Licenses and Billing
- Free trial. New accounts may start a 7-day free trial with no payment card required. The trial simply ends unless you purchase a license.
- The annual license. The paid plan is a per-child 12-month license at the price shown on our pricing page. Each child on your account requires their own license; all children share one parent login. In states whose education-savings-account rules limit the service term (for example Arizona's July 1 – June 30 contract year), the license runs to that boundary and the price is prorated at the same annual rate for the shorter term.
- No automatic renewal. Licenses are one-time purchases. They do not renew automatically, and we do not keep a payment method on file. We will remind you by email before your license year ends; continuing is always your explicit choice, made with a new purchase.
- Payments. Payments are processed by Stripe on the web and by Apple or Google for in-app purchases. Each purchase authorizes a single charge for that purchase only. Store purchases are also subject to the store's terms, and refunds for them are handled by the store.
- Price changes. We may change prices or features for future license purchases; the price you paid covers your full license term.
- Refunds. Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable, and partial license terms are not refunded.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to: (a) share, resell, or sublicense your account or the Service; (b) use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, or abusive purpose; (c) attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, bulk-download, or gain unauthorized access to the Service, its systems, or its content (including lessons, videos, and question banks); (d) misuse the AI tutor to generate unlawful, harmful, or infringing content, or attempt to jailbreak, bypass, or defeat its safety systems, content filters, schoolwork-only guardrails, or usage metering (including cycling devices or identities to obtain extra free usage); (e) use the Service or its outputs to build, train, fine-tune, or improve a competing product or dataset; (f) impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation; or (g) use the Service in violation of any applicable law or these Terms. We may monitor for abuse and may remove content or restrict, suspend, or terminate access for violations.
5. AI Tutor — Important Notice
The tutor and other AI features are powered by third-party artificial-intelligence models. AI can make mistakes and may occasionally produce information that is inaccurate, incomplete, not unique to you, or not appropriate for a given student. Treat its output as a study aid to be reviewed by a parent, guardian, or teacher, and verify anything important. AI output is not medical, legal, financial, educational-placement, or other professional advice, and we make no guarantee that use of the Service will produce any particular academic result. You (and, for minors, the supervising parent or guardian) are responsible for how outputs are used, shared, or relied upon.
6. Your Content
You own your content (for example: questions, messages, voice input, and homework photos where those features are available). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, process, transmit, and display your content solely to operate and provide the Service to you — for example, sending a question to our AI provider so the tutor can answer it. We do not use your content to train AI models and we do not sell it. You are responsible for your content, including having the right to share it. See our Privacy Policy for details on data handling.
7. Intellectual Property
The Service and its content — including lessons, videos, study guides, workbooks, curricula, question banks, text, graphics, logos, characters, and software — are owned by YourHomeschool or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service and to print or download study materials for your household's personal, non-commercial educational use. Printed-workbook QR codes and lesson pages are for the book owner's personal educational use. All other rights are reserved. You may not redistribute, publicly display, or commercialize our content.
8. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on third-party providers (including Stripe for payments, app stores, hosting, and AI/voice providers for tutoring features). Your use of those features may also be subject to the providers' terms. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.
9. Copyright Complaints (DMCA)
If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice under 17 U.S.C. §512 to [email protected] (subject "DMCA") including: your contact information; identification of the work and of the allegedly infringing material (with its location); a statement of good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and you are authorized to act; and your physical or electronic signature. We respond to valid notices, may remove material, and terminate repeat infringers. Counter-notices may be sent to the same address.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that content (including AI output) will be accurate, original, or suitable for any particular educational outcome. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: (a) YourHomeschool and its owners, employees, and providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service; and (b) our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (i) the amounts you paid us for the Service in the six (6) months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (ii) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law and do not affect consumer rights that cannot be waived where you live.
12. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless YourHomeschool, its affiliates, and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your content, your use or misuse of the Service or its outputs, your violation of these Terms or applicable law, or your violation of any third party's rights. This obligation survives termination.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service and cancel at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access (with notice where practicable, immediately for serious violations) if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including your-content license limits, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution) will survive.
14. Dispute Resolution — Arbitration and Class Action Waiver
- Talk to us first. Before filing any claim, email [email protected] with a description of the dispute. We'll try in good faith to resolve it informally within 60 days.
- Binding arbitration. If we can't resolve it informally, any dispute arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section. You and we each waive the right to a trial by judge or jury.
- Class action waiver. All claims must be brought on an individual basis only — not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding, and the arbitrator may not consolidate claims. If this waiver is found unenforceable for a particular claim, that claim (and only that claim) must proceed in court.
- Exceptions. Either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and either party may seek injunctive relief in court to protect intellectual property.
- 30-day opt-out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing [email protected] (subject "Arbitration opt-out") within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, stating your name and account email.
- Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules — except where the law of your place of residence gives you rights that cannot be waived.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, give at least 15 days' notice (on the site, in the app, or by email). Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. Changes to Section 14 allow a new 30-day opt-out.
