This Privacy Policy explains how YourHomeschool ("YourHomeschool," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with the YourHomeschool K-12 AI tutoring service available at yourhomeschool.net (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
When you sign up, we collect the name and email address of the parent/guardian account holder.
License & payment information
Payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number, CVC, or bank details — these go directly to Stripe. We do not keep a payment method on file. We store only the purchase identifiers and status returned to us by Stripe: your Stripe customer ID, the purchase or license identifier, the plan purchased, payment status, and the date your 12-month license term ends.
Tutor and voice interactions
When the AI tutor or the "Parent Helper" voice feature is used, the text of the questions and responses is processed by our AI and voice providers to generate replies and audio (see Section 4). We do not store these conversations in our database.
Information stored on your device
We use your browser's local storage (not advertising cookies) to remember your sign-in email and name, your language choice (English/Spanish), and your selected voice. If you use the optional Student Tracker, the information you enter there — lesson progress statuses, student nicknames (animal nicknames, not real names) and grade levels, and any activity, social, field-trip, community-service, or other logs — is also kept in this same on-device local storage. If you are not signed in, all of this stays on your device. When you are signed in, so your records are available on every device you use, we sync the lesson progress statuses, animal nicknames, and grade levels to our servers — stored against a one-way identifier derived from your email address rather than the address itself. Your free-text logs, and the optional list matching a nickname to a real child, are encrypted in your browser before they are sent: we store only the encrypted blob and have no way to read it. You can erase all of it at any time by removing a student in the tracker or clearing your browser's storage for this site.
Education Savings Account (ESA) billing information
If you pay with a state Education Savings Account, voucher, or similar scholarship program, the state requires your child's legal name on the receipt — an animal nickname is not accepted. So, only for a student you specifically turn this on for, and only after you give explicit consent, we store that student's legal first and last name, grade level, your state and program, and any student ID the program has issued you.
This is the one place in the Service where a child's real name is stored in a form we can read, and it is deliberately fenced in:
- It is used only to produce the receipts and invoices your state requires — nothing else.
- It is kept separate from all learning records. Progress, lessons, and exam results stay under the animal nickname and are never joined to this name.
- It applies only to the students you flag. If you do not use an ESA, nothing here applies to you and nothing about your data changes.
- You can remove it at any time by turning the ESA setting off for that student, which deletes the stored name.
Receipts we have already issued keep the name that was printed on them. We cannot change them retroactively, because you may have filed a copy with your state and the two documents have to match.
Technical information
Like most websites, our hosting and infrastructure providers may automatically process standard technical data (such as IP address and request logs) to deliver and secure the Service.
2. Children's Privacy
YourHomeschool is an educational tool intended to be set up and supervised by an adult. The account holder must be 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13, and the Service does not require a child to provide their name, email, or other identifying information to use the tutor.
Children may type or speak questions to the AI tutor under the supervision of their parent or guardian. We ask that children not enter personal information (such as full name, address, phone number, or school) into the tutor. We do not use tutor interactions to build a profile of, identify, or advertise to a child. No advertising or analytics tracking pixels run in the tutoring experience, and we do not track a child's activity across other sites or apps. The optional Student Tracker is designed to avoid identifying children — it uses animal nicknames instead of names, so the progress records we hold are never attached to a child's real name, and anything free-text is encrypted in your browser before it reaches us. If you believe a child has provided us personal information and you would like it removed, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
3. How We Use Information
- To create and manage your account and provide the Service;
- To process license purchases, billing, and refunds through Stripe;
- To send service communications, such as the welcome email and account or billing notices;
- To operate the AI tutor, lesson videos, study guides, and voice features;
- To produce the itemized receipts and invoices required by state Education Savings Account programs, for the students you have asked us to;
- To maintain the security, integrity, and reliability of the Service; and
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the tutoring Service or children's interactions for advertising. The only advertising technologies we use are the Meta Pixel on our public marketing pages for schools — loaded only with your consent, and never for signed-in users — see Section 5. We removed the Vibe and Trusted TV advertising pixels from our landing page in August 2026 because that page is styled for young learners, and we will not run advertising trackers on a page children may see.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to deliver the Service. Each processes only the data needed for its function:

These providers are bound by their own privacy and security commitments. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Service.
5. Cookies, Analytics & Advertising
Inside the tutoring Service — the app where students learn — we use only on-device browser storage to operate the Service and to power the optional Student Tracker (see Section 1, "Information stored on your device"). We do not run advertising or analytics tracking pixels in the student-facing tutor, and we do not use cookies to profile, identify, or advertise to children. The Student Tracker's free-text records never leave your device in readable form — they are encrypted in your browser before any sync.
On our public marketing pages for schools (for example, our "For Schools" page), which are intended for adult administrators and educators, we use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to measure how well our outreach to schools and districts performs. This advertising cookie is loaded only after you give consent through the banner on that page. If you decline, it is not loaded. You can withdraw consent at any time by declining the banner or clearing this site's storage in your browser.
On our public landing page — the marketing view visitors see before signing in — we run no advertising or measurement pixels at all. We previously used the Vibe and Trusted TV pixels there; we removed them in August 2026. That page is styled for young learners, so we will not run advertising trackers on it, regardless of what any ad platform permits. The page does embed a marketing video hosted on YouTube, which sets third-party cookies — that embed loads only if you choose Accept; if you choose Essential only, we play a copy hosted on our own servers and contact no third party.
How we minimize tracking when children use the software: the Meta Pixel — and any other advertising or analytics tracker — are never active in the tutoring app, on lesson pages, or anywhere a student interacts with the Service. Children use the tutor without advertising cookies, without cross-site tracking, and without an advertising profile being created. Tracking technology is confined to adult-facing marketing pages and the public, signed-out landing page, and is consent-based.
6. Data Retention
We keep account and license information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal and tax obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account information at any time (see Section 8).
ESA receipts are an exception. Once a receipt has been issued we must keep it, and the student name printed on it, for as long as your state's program may audit the expense. This is the same reason your own accountant keeps invoices: if the state asks you to produce the receipt, we have to be able to reproduce the identical document. Turning the ESA setting off for a student deletes their stored billing name going forward, but does not alter receipts already issued.
7. Data Security
The Service is served over encrypted HTTPS connections, payment data is handled by Stripe (a PCI-compliant provider), and access to account data is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
8. Your Choices and Rights
- Access, correct, or delete your account information — email [email protected].
- Review your billing at any time from within the app (Billing), which opens your secure Stripe billing portal. Licenses are one-time purchases that do not renew, so there is no subscription to cancel.
- Clear local data by signing out or clearing your browser's storage for this site.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA, including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email above.
9. International Users
The Service is operated from the United States and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. By using the Service you understand your information may be processed in the U.S.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
