What this lesson teaches
Gather information from authoritative sources, judge each source's usefulness and reliability, and integrate it without plagiarizing by quoting, paraphrasing, and citing correctly. Ask who made a source and why before trusting it.
Worked example
A statistic from an industry group promoting its own product is less reliable for that product's safety than the same figure from an independent lab — same number, different trustworthiness.
Practice questions
- Judge one source's reliability by naming its author and purpose.
- Paraphrase a sentence from it without copying the wording.
- Write a correct in-text citation showing where the information came from.
