Tell Me Facts
Aligned to W.1.2 — Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts.
What this lesson teaches
We can write to teach about a topic. We name the topic, give some facts, and finish with a last line.
Worked examples
Example 1
"Dogs are pets. They like to run. They eat food and sleep. Dogs are fun!" The topic is dogs, with facts and an ending.
Example 2
'Bees are insects. They live in a hive. They make honey. Bees help our food grow!' Topic, facts, ending.
Example 3
Facts belong together. If one sentence is about bees and the next is about your birthday, the reader gets lost.
Practice questions
- Pick a topic you know well.
- Write one fact about it.
- Add a last line to finish your writing.

Dime Datos
Podemos escribir para enseñar sobre un tema. Nombramos el tema, damos algunos datos y terminamos con una frase final.
Ejemplo 1: "Los perros son mascotas. Les gusta correr. Comen y duermen. ¡Los perros son divertidos!" El tema son los perros, con datos y un final.
Ejemplo 2: 'Las abejas son insectos. Viven en una colmena. Hacen miel. ¡Las abejas ayudan a que crezca nuestra comida!' Tema, datos, final.
Ejemplo 3: Los datos van juntos. Si una oración es sobre abejas y la siguiente sobre tu cumpleaños, quien lee se pierde.
