What this lesson teaches
After we write, we can make it better. We stay on one topic and add more details.
Worked examples
Example 1
First we write, "I have a cat." Then we add a detail: "I have a soft gray cat named Mo." Now it tells more!
Example 2
First we write 'I went to the park.' Then we add when and who: 'On Saturday I went to the park with my cousin.'
Example 3
Reading it out loud is the quickest way to find what is missing. Your ear catches what your eye skips.
Practice questions
- Read something you wrote out loud.
- Add one more detail to it.
- Ask a friend what else they want to know.
