What this lesson teaches
Good readers ask and answer questions about a story — who is in it, where it happens, and what happens — using the words and pictures.
Worked examples
Example 1
In a story about a lost puppy, we can answer: Who? the puppy. Where? the park. What happened? it found its way home.
Example 2
In a story about a bear who cannot sleep, ask: Who? the bear. When? winter. Why? his cave was too cold.
Example 3
If you cannot answer, go back and look at the page. The answer is usually right there in the words or the picture.

Preguntar y responder sobre detalles clave
Los buenos lectores hacen y responden preguntas sobre un cuento — quiénes aparecen, dónde ocurre y qué pasa — usando las palabras y las ilustraciones.
Ejemplo 1: En un cuento sobre un cachorro perdido, podemos responder: ¿Quién? el cachorro. ¿Dónde? el parque. ¿Qué pasó? encontró el camino a casa.
Ejemplo 2: En un cuento sobre un oso que no puede dormir, pregunta: ¿Quién? el oso. ¿Cuándo? el invierno. ¿Por qué? su cueva estaba muy fría.
Ejemplo 3: Si no puedes responder, regresa y mira la página. La respuesta casi siempre está ahí en las palabras o en el dibujo.
