Counting Money

What this lesson teaches
Coins have different values: penny 1¢, nickel 5¢, dime 10¢, quarter 25¢. Count by starting with the biggest coins.
Worked example
1 quarter, 2 dimes, 1 nickel = 25 + 10 + 10 + 5 = 50¢.
Practice questions
- How much is 3 dimes and 4 pennies?
- Show 30¢ using the fewest coins.
- Which is more: 2 quarters or 4 dimes?
