What this lesson teaches
Authors introduce ideas or events in a deliberate order and connect them with logic, chronology, or cause and effect. Analyze how one point sets up the next and why the sequence matters to the argument.
Worked example
A report might first define 'food desert,' then map where they cluster, then link that map to health data — each step depends on the one before, so reordering them would break the causal chain.
Practice questions
- List the order in which a text introduces its main points.
- Identify the connection between two consecutive points — cause, contrast, or example.
- Explain how a different order would change the reader's understanding.
