What this lesson teaches
A central idea emerges gradually as specific details accumulate and reshape it. Trace how it develops across a text, then write an objective summary that reports the ideas without inserting your opinion.
Worked example
An essay on sleep may open with a personal anecdote, add research on memory, then cite school start times — the central idea 'sleep loss has measurable costs' only becomes clear once those details stack up.
