Recognizing safe and unsafe situations

Aligned to NHES 4 — SHAPE America National Standards.

What this lesson teaches

Sometimes your tummy or your feelings tell you that something is not right, and that is an important signal to listen to. If something feels unsafe or uncomfortable, you can say no, get away, and tell a trusted adult. This is called no, go, tell.

Worked example

If an older kid asked you to do something that felt wrong, you could say no firmly, walk away to a safe spot, and tell a parent or teacher what happened.

Practice questions

  1. Say the three steps: no, go, and what?
  2. Name a feeling that warns you something is wrong.
  3. Who would you tell if something felt unsafe?

Reconocer situaciones seguras e inseguras
