Basic safety and trusted adults

Aligned to NHES 7 — SHAPE America National Standards.

What this lesson teaches

Safety rules help keep you from getting hurt, like looking both ways before crossing and wearing a seatbelt. A trusted adult is a grown-up who keeps you safe, like a parent, teacher, or police officer. If there is an emergency, you can call for help.

Worked example

If you ever got lost in a store, a safe plan is to stay where you are and look for a worker or a parent with kids to ask for help.

Practice questions

  1. Name one safety rule for crossing the street.
  2. Name two trusted adults you can ask for help.
  3. What do you do if there is an emergency?
