Ways to Make 10

What this lesson teaches
For any number, we can find how many more we need to make a whole group of 10.
Worked examples
Example 1
You have 7 fingers up. Put up 3 more to get to 10. So 7 needs 3 more to make 10.
Example 2
You have 4 fingers up. Count on to 10: 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. That is 6 more, so 4 + 6 = 10.
Example 3
A ten-frame with 8 dots has 2 empty boxes left. Those empty boxes show that 8 needs 2 more to make 10.
