What this lesson teaches

We can use our toys or draw pictures to solve little stories about putting together or taking away.

Example 1

You have 3 ducks and 2 more come to play. Draw them and count: 3 and 2 makes 5 ducks.

Example 2

You have 6 crayons and you give 2 to your sister. Draw 6 crayons, cross out 2, and count what is left: 4 crayons.

Example 3

4 birds sit on a fence and 3 more land. Draw them in two groups, then count them all together: 7 birds.
