Point of View, Suspense & Humor

What this lesson teaches
When the reader knows something a character does not, the gap between viewpoints creates suspense or humor. This effect is called dramatic irony.
Worked example
You read that the trap is behind the blue door; the hero, unaware, reaches for that very handle. Your knowledge and his ignorance create the tension.
Practice questions
- Find a moment where you know more than a character does.
- Explain whether that gap creates suspense or humor.
- Describe how the story would change if the character knew too.

Punto de Vista, Suspenso y Humor
Cuando el lector sabe algo que un personaje ignora, la diferencia entre los puntos de vista crea suspenso o humor. Ese efecto se llama ironía dramática.
Ejemplo: Lees que la trampa está tras la puerta azul; el héroe, sin saberlo, alcanza esa misma manija. Tu conocimiento y su ignorancia crean la tensión.
