Crafting a Narrative

What this lesson teaches
A narrative develops a real or imagined experience through a clear sequence of events, vivid details, and techniques like dialogue and pacing. Establish a situation, build tension, and end with a resolution.
Worked examples
Example 1
You open with a character locking a door 'twice, then a third time,' a detail that hints at fear, then build events toward the moment the lock finally fails.
Example 2
Open in motion: 'She was already running when the second alarm started.' Explain afterwards, if at all.
Example 3
A narrative needs a change, not just events. A day where nothing becomes different is a diary entry.
Practice questions
- Write an opening line that hints at a character's mood.
- Sequence three events so tension rises.
- Add one line of dialogue that reveals character.

Crear una Narración
Una narración desarrolla una experiencia real o imaginada mediante una secuencia clara de sucesos, detalles vívidos y técnicas como el diálogo y el ritmo. Establece una situación, aumenta la tensión y termina con una resolución.
Ejemplo 1: Abres con un personaje que cierra una puerta 'dos veces, y luego una tercera,' un detalle que insinúa miedo, y después llevas los sucesos hacia el momento en que la cerradura por fin cede.
Ejemplo 2: Abre en movimiento: 'Ya iba corriendo cuando sonó la segunda alarma.' Explica después, si acaso.
Ejemplo 3: Una narración necesita un cambio, no solo sucesos. Un día donde nada se vuelve distinto es una entrada de diario.
