What this lesson teaches
Skilled writers write often — sometimes quickly for a short task, sometimes over days for a longer one. Match your time and effort to the purpose and audience of each piece.
Worked example
A ten-minute journal entry can be loose and personal; a week-long essay needs planning, drafts, and edits. Both build the writing habit, but each fits a different time frame and goal.
Practice questions
- Freewrite for five minutes on a topic without stopping to fix anything.
- Plan a longer piece by listing three points you'd develop over several days.
- Keep a short daily writing log for three days and note what got easier.
