What this lesson teaches
Strong writing comes from rewriting. Plan, then revise for ideas and organization, edit for grammar and clarity, and be willing to try a new approach when something isn't working.
Worked examples
Example 1
Draft: 'The movie was good and had good actors and a good plot.' Revised: 'The film gripped me with sharp acting and a twist I never saw coming.' Revising cuts repetition and adds specifics.
Example 2
Draft: 'There are many people who think that this is a problem.' Revised: 'Many people think this is a problem.' Six words gone, nothing lost.
Example 3
Read the draft aloud to someone. Every place they look up is a place to fix, even if you thought it was clear.
Practice questions
- Take a sentence you wrote and revise it to remove a repeated word.
- Reorder two sentences in a paragraph so the ideas flow more logically.
- Rewrite a weak opening line in a completely different way, then pick the stronger version.

Revisar y editar
La buena escritura nace de reescribir. Planea, luego revisa las ideas y la organización, edita la gramática y la claridad, y prueba un enfoque nuevo cuando algo no funciona.
Ejemplo 1: Borrador: 'La película fue buena y tenía buenos actores y buena trama.' Revisado: 'La película me atrapó con actuación aguda y un giro inesperado.' Revisar quita repetición y agrega detalles.
Ejemplo 2: Borrador: 'Hay muchas personas que piensan que esto es un problema.' Revisado: 'Muchas personas piensan que esto es un problema.' Tres palabras menos, nada perdido.
Ejemplo 3: Lee el borrador en voz alta a alguien. Cada lugar donde levanta la vista es un lugar que arreglar, aunque tú lo creyeras claro.
