What this lesson teaches

Technology helps you produce, share, and improve writing. Use tools to format cleanly, link to and cite sources, and collaborate with others on a shared document.

Worked examples

Example 1

In a shared doc, you add a link to your source so readers can check it, then a classmate leaves a comment suggesting a clearer heading. Technology makes sourcing and teamwork easy.

Example 2

A link is a citation the reader can actually follow. A source named but not linked asks them to take your word for it.

Example 3

Anything posted can be screenshotted. Write the draft assuming it will be read by someone you did not mean to share it with.

Practice questions

  1. Type a short paragraph and add a hyperlink to a source that supports one claim.
  2. Format a piece with a title, headings, and clear paragraphs using a word processor.
  3. Share a document and respond helpfully to one comment from a partner.
