Multiplication and Division within 100

What this lesson teaches

Multiplication is equal groups combined; division splits a total into equal groups. They are opposite operations.

Example 1

4 bags with 6 apples each: 4 × 6 = 24 apples. Split 24 apples into 4 bags: 24 ÷ 4 = 6 each.

Example 2

7 rows of chairs with 3 chairs each: 7 × 3 = 21 chairs. Take those 21 chairs and make rows of 3: 21 ÷ 3 = 7 rows.

Example 3

28 cookies shared among 4 kids: 28 ÷ 4 = 7 each. Check it by multiplying back: 4 × 7 = 28.

Ejemplo 1: 4 bolsas con 6 manzanas cada una: 4 × 6 = 24 manzanas. Repartir 24 manzanas en 4 bolsas: 24 ÷ 4 = 6 en cada una.

Ejemplo 2: 7 filas de sillas con 3 sillas cada una: 7 × 3 = 21 sillas. Toma esas 21 sillas y haz filas de 3: 21 ÷ 3 = 7 filas.

Ejemplo 3: 28 galletas repartidas entre 4 niños: 28 ÷ 4 = 7 para cada uno. Compruébalo multiplicando de regreso: 4 × 7 = 28.
