What this lesson teaches
Multiplication is equal groups combined; division splits a total into equal groups. They are opposite operations.
Worked example
4 bags with 6 apples each: 4 × 6 = 24 apples. Split 24 apples into 4 bags: 24 ÷ 4 = 6 each.
Practice questions
- Solve 7 × 8.
- Solve 56 ÷ 7.
- Write a division fact that matches 5 × 6 = 30.
