Divide into Equal Shares

What this lesson teaches

Division splits a total into equal groups. The answer can tell how many are in each group, or how many groups there are.

Worked example

You have 12 marbles and 3 friends. Share them equally: give one to each friend, again and again. Each friend gets 4. So 12 ÷ 3 = 4 marbles each.

Practice questions

  1. Share 15 cookies among 5 kids. How many does each get?
  2. Solve 18 ÷ 2.
  3. You have 20 crayons in bags of 4. How many bags?

La división separa un total en grupos iguales. La respuesta puede decir cuántos hay en cada grupo, o cuántos grupos hay.

Ejemplo: Tienes 12 canicas y 3 amigos. Repártelas por igual: da una a cada amigo, una y otra vez. Cada amigo recibe 4. Entonces 12 ÷ 3 = 4 canicas cada uno.
