Divide into Equal Shares

What this lesson teaches
Division splits a total into equal groups. The answer can tell how many are in each group, or how many groups there are.
Worked examples
Example 1
You have 12 marbles and 3 friends. Share them equally: give one to each friend, again and again. Each friend gets 4. So 12 ÷ 3 = 4 marbles each.
Example 2
You have 20 stickers and want 5 in each envelope. How many envelopes? 20 ÷ 5 = 4 envelopes.
Example 3
Division asks two different questions. 20 ÷ 5 can mean 'share 20 among 5 people' (4 each) or 'make groups of 5 out of 20' (4 groups). Same answer, different picture.

- Share 15 cookies among 5 kids. How many does each get?
- Solve 18 ÷ 2.
- You have 20 crayons in bags of 4. How many bags?

Dividir en Partes Iguales
La división separa un total en grupos iguales. La respuesta puede decir cuántos hay en cada grupo, o cuántos grupos hay.
Ejemplo 1: Tienes 12 canicas y 3 amigos. Repártelas por igual: da una a cada amigo, una y otra vez. Cada amigo recibe 4. Entonces 12 ÷ 3 = 4 canicas cada uno.
Ejemplo 2: Tienes 20 calcomanías y quieres 5 en cada sobre. ¿Cuántos sobres? 20 ÷ 5 = 4 sobres.
Ejemplo 3: La división hace dos preguntas distintas. 20 ÷ 5 puede significar 'reparte 20 entre 5 personas' (4 a cada uno) o 'haz grupos de 5 con 20' (4 grupos). La misma respuesta, distinta imagen.
