Comparing Stories in a Series

What this lesson teaches
When the same author writes more than one story about the same character, you can compare how the stories are alike and different.
Worked examples
Example 1
In two books about the same bear, both teach about friendship, but one happens in a forest and the other at the beach.
Example 2
Two mysteries with the same detective use the same method — gather clues, question everyone, reveal at the end — with a different crime each time.
Example 3
Series books keep the character and change the problem. That is why you can read book four without reading book three.
Practice questions
- Name one way two stories about the same character are alike.
- Name one way their settings are different.
- Tell which story you liked more and why.

Comparar Cuentos de una Serie
Cuando el mismo autor escribe más de un cuento sobre el mismo personaje, puedes comparar en qué se parecen y en qué se diferencian.
Ejemplo 1: En dos libros sobre el mismo oso, los dos enseñan sobre la amistad, pero uno ocurre en un bosque y el otro en la playa.
Ejemplo 2: Dos misterios con el mismo detective usan el mismo método — juntar pistas, interrogar a todos, revelar al final — con un crimen distinto cada vez.
Ejemplo 3: Los libros de una serie conservan al personaje y cambian el problema. Por eso puedes leer el libro cuatro sin haber leído el tres.
