Two Ways to Tell a Story

What this lesson teaches
The same story can be told in different ways. Look at how two versions are the same and how they are different.
Worked examples
Example 1
In one book, a hero rides a horse to save the day. In another, the same hero rides a bike. The rescue is the same, but how they travel is different.
Example 2
In one telling, Cinderella has a fairy godmother. In another version from a different country, a magical fish helps her. Same story shape, different helper.
Example 3
Comparing two versions shows you what the story is really about. Whatever both keep is the part that matters.
Practice questions
- Name one thing that is the same in two versions of a story.
- Name one thing that is different in the two versions.
- Tell which version you like better and why.

Dos maneras de contar un cuento
El mismo cuento se puede contar de distintas maneras. Fíjate en qué se parecen y en qué son diferentes las dos versiones.
Ejemplo 1: En un libro, un héroe monta un caballo para salvar el día. En otro, el mismo héroe monta una bicicleta. El rescate es igual, pero cómo viaja es diferente.
Ejemplo 2: En una versión, Cenicienta tiene un hada madrina. En otra versión de otro país, un pez mágico la ayuda. La misma forma de cuento, distinto ayudante.
Ejemplo 3: Comparar dos versiones te muestra de qué trata realmente el cuento. Lo que las dos conservan es la parte que importa.
