What this lesson teaches
Pictures and words work together. Look at the pictures to learn more about the people, the place, and what happens.
Worked examples
Example 1
The words say 'Ben went outside.' The picture shows snow and a sled, so you know it is a cold, snowy day.
Example 2
The words say 'Mira opened the door slowly.' The picture shows a dark hallway, so you know why she was slow.
Example 3
Sometimes the picture disagrees with what you pictured in your head. That is fine — the picture is one artist's idea, not the only right one.
Practice questions
- Look at a picture in a book and tell where the story takes place.
- Find a clue in the picture that the words do not tell you.
- Use both the words and the picture to explain what is happening.

Los dibujos y las palabras trabajan juntos. Mira los dibujos para saber más sobre las personas, el lugar y lo que pasa.
Ejemplo 1: Las palabras dicen 'Ben salió afuera.' El dibujo muestra nieve y un trineo, así que sabes que es un día frío y nevado.
