Why Does It Say So?

What this lesson teaches
When a book tells us something, it often gives a reason why. We can look for the reason.
Worked examples
Example 1
A book says, "Wear a coat." Why? Because it is cold outside. "It is cold" is the reason.
Example 2
A book says, 'Wash your hands.' Why? Because germs make you sick. The reason comes after 'because'.
Example 3
Not every sentence has a reason. 'Bears are big' is just a fact; 'Bears sleep all winter because food is scarce' has one.

- Find something a book tells you to do or think.
- Look for the reason why.
- Tell the reason in your own words.

¿Por Qué Lo Dice?
Cuando un libro nos dice algo, muchas veces da una razón. Podemos buscar esa razón.
Ejemplo 1: Un libro dice: "Ponte un abrigo." ¿Por qué? Porque hace frío afuera. "Hace frío" es la razón.
Ejemplo 2: Un libro dice: 'Lávate las manos.' ¿Por qué? Porque los gérmenes te enferman. La razón viene después de 'porque'.
Ejemplo 3: No toda oración tiene una razón. 'Los osos son grandes' es solo un dato; 'Los osos duermen todo el invierno porque escasea la comida' sí tiene una.
