Music: beat, rhythm & pitch (high/low, fast/slow)
Aligned to NCAS:Re — National Core Arts Standards.
What this lesson teaches
Music has a steady beat, like a heartbeat you can clap along to. Sounds can also be high or low, loud or soft, and fast or slow. When you listen closely, you can notice all of these and feel the music with your body.
Worked example
Clap along to a song to find its steady beat. Then sing a tiny mouse voice that is high, and a big bear voice that is low.
Practice questions
- Clap a steady beat while a song plays.
- Make a high sound, then a low sound with your voice.
- Is a lullaby fast or slow? What about a marching song?
