Analyzing movement to improve performance

What this lesson teaches
You can get better at almost any physical skill by analyzing it using ideas from biomechanics, tactics, and training, then making focused adjustments. Watching video of yourself, getting feedback, or even teaching someone else reveals what to fix. Knowing how to learn a new activity efficiently is a skill that lasts your whole life.
Worked example
If your free-throw percentage is low, film a few shots, compare your form to good technique, notice you are not following through, and drill that one fix until it improves.
Practice questions
- Name one tool you can use to analyze your technique.
- Why does teaching a skill deepen your own learning?
- Pick a skill and describe one focused fix to practice.
