What this lesson teaches
Sustainable fitness balances training with recovery and nutrition, not just hard workouts. Assessing your fitness honestly, fueling your body well, and giving it rest days prevents injury and burnout. It also means avoiding unhealthy extremes like overtraining or risky supplements that promise fast results but can harm your health.
Worked example
A smart athlete schedules rest days, gets enough sleep, and eats balanced meals to recover, knowing that muscles actually grow during recovery, not just during the workout itself.
Practice questions
- Why are rest days part of getting fitter?
- Name one warning sign of overtraining.
- Why be cautious about performance supplements?
