What this lesson teaches
As you gain independence, knowing how to prevent and respond to emergencies keeps you and others safer when no adult is nearby. This includes preventing injuries, applying basic first aid, knowing how to call for help, and being aware of CPR. A simple emergency plan helps you stay calm and act when it counts.
Worked example
If a friend got a deep cut, you would press a clean cloth firmly on it to slow the bleeding, keep them calm, and call for emergency help, knowing the basics keeps the situation under control.

Seguridad personal, primeros auxilios y emergencias
A medida que ganas independencia, saber cómo prevenir y responder ante emergencias te mantiene a ti y a los demás más seguros cuando no hay un adulto cerca. Esto incluye prevenir lesiones, aplicar primeros auxilios básicos, saber cómo pedir ayuda y tener nociones de RCP. Un plan de emergencia sencillo te ayuda a mantener la calma y actuar cuando más importa.
Ejemplo: Si un amigo tiene una herida profunda, debes presionar firmemente con una tela limpia sobre la herida para frenar el sangrado, mantenerlo tranquilo y llamar a los servicios de emergencia; conocer lo básico ayuda a controlar la situación.
