Making Bigger Shapes

What this lesson teaches
We can put small shapes together to build a bigger shape.
Worked examples
Example 1
Push two triangles together and they make a square. Two little shapes become one big shape!
Example 2
Put two squares side by side and they make a rectangle. The new shape is wider, but it is still made of your two squares.
Example 3
Six triangles pushed together around one point make a hexagon — a bigger shape with 6 sides.
Practice questions
- Put two triangles together - what bigger shape do you get?
- Use square blocks to build a long rectangle.
- Join shapes to make a house shape.
