What this lesson teaches
Foundational public documents share recurring themes — liberty, equality, justice; analyze how a document develops such a theme and how it echoes others.
Worked example
An excerpt from a fictional colony's charter declares that 'no citizen shall be silenced,' developing a theme of free expression that echoes ideas found in later founding texts.
Practice questions
