Graphing Points to Solve Problems

What this lesson teaches
A coordinate grid uses two numbers to name a point: (across, up). The first number tells how far right from 0, and the second tells how far up. In the first quadrant, both numbers are 0 or more, and you can use points to model real places or distances.
Worked example
A park bench is at point (2, 1) and a fountain is at (2, 5) on a map grid where each unit is 1 block. Both have the same first number, 2, so they line up straight up and down. The distance between them is 5 − 1 = 4 blocks.

Graficar puntos para resolver problemas
Un plano de coordenadas usa dos números para nombrar un punto: (a lo ancho, hacia arriba). El primer número dice cuánto a la derecha desde 0, y el segundo dice cuánto hacia arriba. En el primer cuadrante, ambos números son 0 o más, y puedes usar puntos para representar lugares o distancias reales.
Ejemplo: Una banca de parque está en el punto (2, 1) y una fuente en (2, 5) en un mapa donde cada unidad es 1 cuadra. Ambos tienen el mismo primer número, 2, así que quedan alineados de arriba a abajo. La distancia entre ellos es 5 − 1 = 4 cuadras.
