What this lesson teaches
When someone gives an opinion out loud, listen for their points and the reasons or evidence behind each one. Notice which claims are well supported.
Worked example
A classmate argues for a longer lunch. Her reasons: kids eat too fast, and rushing causes stomachaches — you can retell each claim and its support.
Practice questions
- Summarize the main points a speaker made.
- Match one reason to the claim it supports.
- Judge whether a claim had strong evidence.
