Comparing Stories in a Genre

What this lesson teaches
Stories in the same genre, like fairy tales or mysteries, often share themes but handle them differently. Compare how each one treats the same idea.
Worked examples
Example 1
Two adventure tales both teach 'never give up,' but one hero wins by cleverness and the other by kindness — same theme, different paths.
Example 2
Two mysteries both end with the detective explaining everything, but one plays fair with clues and the other hides a key fact until the last page.
Example 3
Genre sets expectations. A mystery that never solves the crime feels broken in a way that the same ending in a literary novel would not.
Practice questions
- Name two stories in one genre that share a theme.
- Explain how each story handles that theme differently.
- Tell which approach you found stronger and why.

Comparar Historias de un Género
Las historias del mismo género, como los cuentos de hadas o los misterios, suelen compartir temas pero los tratan de forma distinta. Compara cómo cada una maneja la misma idea.
Ejemplo 1: Dos cuentos de aventuras enseñan 'nunca te rindas', pero un héroe gana por su astucia y el otro por su bondad — el mismo tema, caminos distintos.
Ejemplo 2: Dos misterios terminan con el detective explicando todo, pero uno juega limpio con las pistas y el otro esconde un dato clave hasta la última página.
