What this lesson teaches
Writers improve their work in steps. First plan your ideas, then revise to add or change words, and finally edit to fix mistakes.
Worked examples
Example 1
After writing 'The dog ran,' you revise it to 'The happy dog raced across the yard' to make the picture clearer.
Example 2
After writing 'It was a good day,' you revise to 'We found three frogs in the creek and stayed until dark.'
Example 3
Revising and editing are different jobs. Revising changes what you said; editing fixes spelling and punctuation. Do them in that order.
Practice questions
- Make a quick plan of what you will write.
- Revise one sentence to add a stronger detail.
- Edit your work to fix one spelling or punctuation mistake.

Mejorar Tu Escritura
Los escritores mejoran su trabajo por pasos. Primero planea tus ideas, luego revisa para agregar o cambiar palabras, y al final corrige los errores.
Ejemplo 1: Después de escribir 'El perro corrió', lo revisas a 'El perro feliz corrió veloz por el patio' para que la imagen sea más clara.
Ejemplo 2: Después de escribir 'Fue un buen día', lo revisas a 'Encontramos tres ranas en el arroyo y nos quedamos hasta que oscureció.'
Ejemplo 3: Revisar y corregir son trabajos distintos. Revisar cambia lo que dijiste; corregir arregla ortografía y puntuación. Hazlos en ese orden.
