What this lesson teaches
Words can be close in meaning but feel a little different. Think about how words link to real life.
Worked examples
Example 1
'Damp,' 'wet,' and 'soaked' all mean a bit of water, but 'soaked' means the most water.
Example 2
'Warm,' 'hot' and 'scorching' all mean heat, but scorching means the most.
Example 3
'Glance,' 'look' and 'stare' are all seeing, but they say very different things about the person doing it.
Practice questions
- Name two words that mean almost the same thing.
- Tell which of two words is stronger, like 'warm' or 'hot'.
- Give a real example of when you would use each word.

Ejemplo 1: 'Húmedo', 'mojado' y 'empapado' hablan de agua, pero 'empapado' significa la mayor cantidad de agua.
