What this lesson teaches
You learn new words by talking, reading, and listening. Use those words when you speak and write.
Worked examples
Example 1
After reading about the ocean, you use the new word 'enormous' to say, 'The whale was enormous!'
Example 2
After reading about deserts, you use 'barren' to say, 'The land was barren for miles.'
Example 3
Use a new word within a day of learning it. A word you never say out loud usually does not stay.
Practice questions
- Pick a new word you learned this week.
- Use it in a sentence out loud.
- Write a sentence using the new word correctly.

Usar palabras nuevas
Aprendes palabras nuevas al hablar, leer y escuchar. Usa esas palabras cuando hablas y escribes.
Ejemplo 1: Después de leer sobre el océano, usas la palabra nueva 'enorme' para decir: '¡La ballena era enorme!'
Ejemplo 2: Después de leer sobre desiertos, usas 'árido' para decir: 'La tierra estaba árida por kilómetros.'
Ejemplo 3: Usa una palabra nueva el mismo día que la aprendes. Una palabra que nunca dices en voz alta normalmente no se queda.
