What this lesson teaches
In true texts, one thing often leads to another. Notice how events, ideas, or steps are linked in order.
Worked examples
Example 1
First a seed is planted. Then it gets water and sun. Next it grows into a plant. Each step leads to the next.
Example 2
First the caterpillar eats. Then it makes a chrysalis. Then a butterfly comes out. Each step depends on the one before.
Example 3
Some connections are cause and effect, not just order. Rain then a puddle is cause; rain then lunch is only order.
Practice questions
- Put the steps of how something is made in the right order.
- Tell what happens first and what happens next.
- Explain how one step helps the next step happen.

Cómo se conectan las cosas
En los textos reales, una cosa lleva a otra. Fíjate cómo se conectan los sucesos, las ideas o los pasos en orden.
Ejemplo 1: Primero se planta una semilla. Luego recibe agua y sol. Después crece hasta ser una planta. Cada paso lleva al siguiente.
Ejemplo 2: Primero la oruga come. Luego forma una crisálida. Luego sale una mariposa. Cada paso depende del anterior.
Ejemplo 3: Algunas conexiones son causa y efecto, no solo orden. Lluvia y luego charco es causa; lluvia y luego el almuerzo es solo orden.
