What this lesson teaches
Good writing is rewritten, not just written. Planning, revising for ideas, editing for correctness, and sometimes abandoning a draft for a new approach are how a piece grows stronger for its purpose and audience.
Worked example
A cluttered opening improves when you cut the first three sentences and start at the moment of action instead.
Practice questions
- Plan a piece with a quick outline before drafting.
- Revise a wordy sentence to say more with less.
- Explain when to rewrite rather than patch a draft.
