What this lesson teaches
Art is made from a few simple building blocks: lines, shapes, and colors. A line can be straight, wavy, or zig-zag, a shape can be a circle or a square, and colors can be bright or soft. When you draw, you get to choose these on purpose to make whatever you imagine.
Worked example
Draw a house using only shapes: a square for the wall, a triangle for the roof, and circle windows. Then add wavy lines for smoke and a bright yellow sun.
Practice questions
- Draw three different kinds of lines: straight, wavy, and zig-zag.
- Make a picture using only circles. What did the circles turn into?
- Point to something red, something blue, and something round in your room.

El arte se construye con bloques básicos sencillos: líneas, figuras y colores. Una línea puede ser recta, ondulada o en zigzag; una figura puede ser un círculo o un cuadrado; y los colores pueden ser brillantes o suaves. Cuando dibujas, eliges estos elementos a propósito para crear lo que imaginas.
Ejemplo: Dibuja una casa usando solo figuras: un cuadrado para la pared, un triángulo para el techo y círculos para las ventanas. Luego agrega líneas onduladas para el humo y un sol amarillo brillante.
