Aligned to NHES 4 — SHAPE America National Standards.
What this lesson teaches
Healthy relationships are built on respect, honesty, and clear communication, while unhealthy ones involve control, coercion, or disrespect. Consent must be freely and clearly given, and recognizing red flags like jealousy or pressure helps you stay safe. Making informed, responsible decisions about relationships and sexual health is part of becoming an adult.
Worked example
In a healthy relationship, both people feel comfortable saying no without fear, and decisions are made together with mutual respect, not pressure, guilt, or threats.
Practice questions
- Name two signs of an unhealthy relationship.
- Explain what freely given consent means.
- Name a red flag that someone should take seriously.

Relaciones saludables, consentimiento y salud sexual
