What this lesson teaches
Sunlight warms things up, and making shade keeps a spot cooler.
Worked examples
Example 1
The sidewalk feels hot in the sun, but under a big umbrella it feels cooler.
Example 2
A hat keeps the sun off your face, so your cheeks stay cooler than your arms.
Example 3
Stand under a tree at noon and you have shade. Come back at sunset and the shade has moved, because the sun moved across the sky.
Practice questions
- Feel a sunny spot and a shady spot with your hand and tell which is warmer.
- Hold up a towel or box to make shade over a toy.
- Build a little roof with paper to keep the sun off a spot on the floor.

Haz un poco de sombra
