Presenting Claims Clearly

Aligned to SL.8.4 — Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts.

What this lesson teaches

A strong presentation states claims and findings with relevant evidence and valid reasoning. Delivery matters too: use eye contact, adequate volume, and clear pronunciation so your point lands.

Worked example

Presenting on recycling, you make a claim, give one statistic, and explain the link, all while looking up from your notes and speaking loudly enough for the back row.

Practice questions

  1. State a claim and one piece of supporting evidence aloud.
  2. Explain the reasoning that connects them.
  3. Name one delivery habit you will improve.
