Adding Multimedia to Talks

What this lesson teaches
Visual displays and multimedia can clarify information, strengthen a claim, and add interest to a presentation. Choose media that supports your point rather than distracting from it.
Worked examples
Example 1
Instead of reading population numbers aloud, you show a simple bar graph; the audience grasps the jump instantly, and your claim about growth feels stronger.
Example 2
A photo of the thing itself beats a chart about the thing, whenever the point is that it is real.
Example 3
Every slide costs attention. If it does not do something your voice cannot, it is subtracting.
Practice questions
- Choose a visual that would clarify one of your points.
- Explain how a graphic strengthens a claim.
- Decide when a slide would distract rather than help.

Ejemplo 1: En vez de leer cifras de población en voz alta, muestras una gráfica de barras sencilla; el público capta el salto al instante y tu afirmación sobre el crecimiento se siente más fuerte.
