Comparing Mediums

What this lesson teaches
The same topic can be presented in text, audio, or video, and each medium has strengths and weaknesses. Weigh the advantages and disadvantages of each for a particular idea.
Worked examples
Example 1
A podcast on ocean tides lets you hear a scientist's excitement, but a diagram shows the moon's pull at a glance; the audio adds emotion while the image adds clarity.
Example 2
An interactive map lets you find your own street; an article cannot. The medium decides what kind of attention is possible.
Example 3
A medium's strength is its weakness. Audio carries emotion you cannot skim, which is also why you cannot check it quickly.

Comparar Medios de Comunicación
Un mismo tema puede presentarse en texto, audio o video, y cada medio tiene ventajas y desventajas. Sopesa lo bueno y lo malo de cada uno para una idea en particular.
Ejemplo 1: Un pódcast sobre las mareas te deja oír el entusiasmo de un científico, pero un diagrama muestra la atracción de la luna de un vistazo; el audio agrega emoción mientras la imagen agrega claridad.
Ejemplo 2: Un mapa interactivo te deja encontrar tu propia calle; un artículo no puede. El medio decide qué tipo de atención es posible.
Ejemplo 3: La fortaleza de un medio es su debilidad. El audio lleva una emoción que no puedes ojear, y por eso tampoco lo puedes verificar rápido.
