What this lesson teaches
Long before any state existed, Native nations lived on the land for thousands of years. Each nation had its own language, government, and traditions, and they adapted their homes, food, and clothing to the region around them.
Worked example
People living near forests built homes and canoes from wood and hunted deer, while people on the dry plains followed buffalo herds and lived in tents that were easy to move.
