What this lesson teaches
Over the years, people moved to our state from other countries and other parts of the nation. These immigrants and migrants brought their languages, foods, religions, and skills, which shaped the communities and jobs we have today.
Worked example
One neighborhood might have a bakery started by a family from Mexico, a festival brought by settlers from Germany, and a temple built by newcomers from Asia, all sharing the same city streets.
