Multiplying a Fraction by a Whole Number

What this lesson teaches
Multiplying a whole number by a fraction means adding that fraction that many times. Multiply the whole number by the numerator and keep the denominator the same. If the answer is bigger than one, you can write it as a mixed number.
Worked example
3 x 2/5. This means 2/5 + 2/5 + 2/5. Multiply the whole number by the numerator: 3 x 2 = 6, keep the denominator 5. Answer: 6/5. Since 5/5 makes one whole, 6/5 = 1 and 1/5.

Multiplicar una fraccion por un numero entero
Multiplicar un numero entero por una fraccion significa sumar esa fraccion esa cantidad de veces. Multiplica el numero entero por el numerador y deja el denominador igual. Si el resultado es mayor que uno, puedes escribirlo como numero mixto.
Ejemplo: 3 x 2/5. Esto significa 2/5 + 2/5 + 2/5. Multiplica el entero por el numerador: 3 x 2 = 6 y deja el denominador 5. Respuesta: 6/5. Como 5/5 forma un entero, 6/5 = 1 y 1/5.
