Communities Around the World
Aligned to C3.D2.Geo — C3 Framework for Social Studies State Standards.
What this lesson teaches
Communities everywhere are alike in some ways and different in others. People all need food, shelter, family, and friends, but language, clothing, homes, food, and traditions can vary a lot depending on where people live.
Worked example
In your town, kids might ride a bus to school. In a village in the Andes mountains, a child might walk a steep path. Both go to school to learn — the same need, a different daily life.
Practice questions
- Name one thing your community shares with a community in another country, and one difference.
- How might weather change the homes people build?
- Pick a country and name one tradition you'd like to learn about.
