What this lesson teaches
Reading grade-level true texts by yourself builds knowledge. When a part is hard, slow down, reread, and use the text features.
Worked examples
Example 1
If an article about volcanoes feels tricky, reread the paragraph and check the labeled picture to understand it better.
Example 2
If an article about the water cycle is confusing, slow down at the diagram and trace one drop all the way around.
Example 3
Reading a hard page twice is not failure. Almost nobody understands a dense paragraph on the first pass.
Practice questions
- Read a short true text on your own and tell the main idea.
- Reread one hard part and explain it in your own words.
- Use a heading or picture to help you understand a section.

Leer Textos Reales por Tu Cuenta
Leer textos reales de tu grado por tu cuenta te da conocimiento. Cuando una parte sea difícil, ve más despacio, vuelve a leer y usa las partes del texto.
Ejemplo 1: Si un artículo sobre los volcanes te parece difícil, vuelve a leer el párrafo y revisa la imagen señalada para entenderlo mejor.
Ejemplo 2: Si un artículo sobre el ciclo del agua te confunde, detente en el diagrama y sigue una gota por todo el recorrido.
Ejemplo 3: Leer una página difícil dos veces no es un fracaso. Casi nadie entiende un párrafo denso en la primera pasada.
